Looking Forward

As many of you know, I have been taking care of my Mother, who has Alzheimer's, since the first of April. Since I have moved into her house, where she is most comfortable at this stage, I've had very little 'quilt' time, family time or shop time. At first I thought I would just take one of my machines to her house and set up a mini sewing corner where I could work while she napped. Wrong!
At this stage she sorts my stuff, hides my stuff, tosses my stuff,.... So I keep my clothes in my car and have barely sewed a stitch in weeks.  And I'm spending my days cleaning out closets and cupboards and drawers. Hers is not a big house, really, but it's packed tight!
Anyway, this is my excuse for not blogging much lately.
In order to take the pressure off of my girls at the shop, we are going to be downsizing.  A lot of the things that have been bottom tier are moving out, so watch for upcoming sales on a wide variety of merchandise.  I'll try to keep you posted as we go along.
All the best,
Granma Patty

  1. My heart goes out to you and your Mom. It's very hard when we are tied down this way, with no time for ourselves. My mother was not handicapped mentally, but I "took care" of her while she battled cancer and lost. So, I do understand the stress you are under. You will be blessed for all your sacrifice. I have been.

  2. Im sorry to hear that your mother has Altzheimers. It is not an easy disease and Im sorry for the heart break I know you will experience. My Grandma had altzheimers for the last ten years of her life. We were lucky to find a wonderful place for her to live that dealt specifically with Altzheimers patients. The first bed size quilt I ever made was for her and lived with her on her bed the whole time. I still have it not quilte the same after 10 years of bleach washings. I will pray for you and your mother.
